Beginnings

Groundbreaking for the Rosary Hall administration building, 1929. Mother Joseph Dunn and Archbishop Thomas Walsh are pictured.

Mother Joseph Dunn first expressed her dream for the college in 1928. She proposed the creation of a junior college to further the undergraduate education of the Sisters. Although it still took many years for the dream to be fulfilled, the work had begun. In 1931, several new buildings were completed and dedicated on the campus of Mount Saint Dominic Academy, which laid the foundations of the future college: Rosary Hall, a residence hall and office building; Aquinas Hall, which provided classroom space; and Albertus Magnus Hall, the science building.
